proHNS designed and inspected this CBJ project that replaced the failing water line, reconstructed the road base and pavement, and upgraded drainage and sewer utilities. Lead Design Engineer Lucas Chambers conducted numerous site visits and an on-site scoping meeting to document utility locates, evaluate existing drainage patterns, and confirm storm drain network locations and basemap layout. Staff Engineer Chris Bydlon, EIT, assisted Lucas in developing 30% level design alternatives and corresponding construction cost estimates, and worked with the CBJ Project Manager to select the most appropriate alternative. Lucas and Chris also led a public meeting at Gastineau Elementary School to review the Savikko Road Improvements design and solicit input from affected residents. Chris, with the assistance of a proHNS intern, inspected the project to ensure the Contractor’s construction adhered to all plans and specifications.
