Cedar Park Pump Station

The Cedar Park Pump Station is a City and Borough of Juneau (CBJ) owned facility located in the residential neighborhood of West Juneau on Douglas Island. proHNS was contracted by CBJ in 2023 to perform engineering design and construction management and administration during the renovation of this pump station.

Originally constructed in 1985, the Cedar Park Pump Station was designed to pump potable water uphill from the low-pressure zones of the existing Douglas Highway water lines to the West Juneau Reservoir. Due to the advanced age of the pump station facility and its existing mechanical and electrical inefficiencies, this renovation project prioritizes several upgrades. Improvements include all new mechanical piping, valves, meters, and inline centrifugal pumps, as well as new electrical systems containing variable frequency drives (VFD), controls, and human-machine interface (HMI).

In addition, this project will also rehabilitate the interior and exterior of the pump station facility. Planned upgrades will remove and patch unused venting, repair non-structural concrete damage, and clean and apply new paint to all exposed surfaces.
