Sam Allen joined proHNS as a Civil Engineer in 2026 after graduating from the Colorado School of Mines with a Master of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering. Earlier in their career, Sam gained consulting experience with CDM Smith, where they supported flood mitigation projects and reviewed hydraulic and hydrologic models for FEMA flood map revisions. At proHNS, Sam’s work has expanded to include civil design and construction support for roadway, utility, and drainage projects for the City and Borough of Juneau and other Southeast Alaska municipalities.
Sam enjoys working alongside proHNS’s senior engineers and contributing to projects from design through construction. Their current work includes construction inspection and as-built support for roadway reconstruction, residential developments, and public utility projects, where they help update drawings in AutoCAD Civil 3D, document field conditions, and verify installed improvements against civil plans. Sam brings a strong technical foundation in H&H modeling, watershed analysis, stormwater and drainage evaluation, and environmental permitting. They approach work with careful attention to detail and a collaborative mindset, relaying technical information into clear and understandable deliverables for clients.
Outside of work, Sam enjoys international travel, hiking, and snowboarding. But one of Sam’s biggest passions is gymnastics and circus arts. After competing as a Level 8 gymnast in Chicago and Hawaii, Sam now enjoys coaching youth gymnastics as well as practicing skills like fire spinning and hand balancing.
