proHNS’s Creative Director and Haines Office Manager Karen Garcia is responsible for writing and designing professional proposals and statements of qualification, leading marketing and advertising efforts, performing public outreach, and managing the company website and social media accounts. Karen is certified by the Association of Proposal Management Professionals (APMP) and has secured millions of dollars in competitive contracts for proHNS, including a highly sought, multi-year contract with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). She is highly skilled in Adobe InDesign and Excel, programs she uses to create attractive, intuitive, and informative proposals, reports, and visual aids for public meetings. Karen’s excellent communication skills allow her to easily speak with both laymen and technical experts before distilling their comments into compelling, compliant, and complete proposal packages.
Karen holds a degree in print journalism and worked as an award-winning reporter before joining proHNS in 2016. Over the past five years, she has also become the firm’s go-to SWPPP writer. In addition to SWPPP writing, management, and inspection, she performs construction inspection on Haines projects and assists with office engineering duties. Since moving to Haines in 2012, Karen has integrated herself into the community through her work and many volunteer activities, including co-organizing the annual Haines School Tournament of the Readers, supporting the Haines Dolphins Swim Team, and participating in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program.
