This project offered proHNS another opportunity to see a CBJ project from start to finish, providing both design and CA/I services. The primary purpose of this project was to replace Sitka Street’s dilapidated and failing water main, though other improvements included surface drainage and replacement of the aging pavement section between North Douglas Highway and Nowell Avenue. Sitka Street is narrow and featured challenging road grades of over 20%. Our staff thoroughly checked D-1 grade prior to paving and coordinated with the Contractor to develop a paving sequence that minimized stopping/starting, the creation of joints, and driving over the fresh mat. We were ultimately able to achieve a superior final product.
